You Can’t Out Exercise a Bad Diet. I can’t stress enough the importance of treating your body right. Like Stephanie Mackey, 25 yrs. old, I believe that 3 hours of exercise won’t be enough to give you a fit body and healthy lifestyle. As she has shared in the interview below, she recommends eating in moderation and consuming foods that are clean and healthy. You Can’t Out Exercise a Bad Diet! Stephanie also motivates a lot of people into choosing healthy and hearty meals over ‘day’s-worth-of-calorie’ type of food. 2. What inspired you to get fit?
Seeing myself in pictures! I had been skinny fat my whole life. When I got married, we were taken out to eat A BUNCH to celebrate and started getting into the habit of eating out. I had to buy new pants- a TIGHT size 8. I knew I had to kick my own butt to make a change. I decided to blog my story out and post my pictures online for the world to see so that I wouldn’t allow myself to fall of the wagon. AND IT WORKED! Clean eating and exercise. I now see my body as a tool and a valuable one. I treat it right so that I can utilize it the ways I want to. Healthy is just happy. Healthy just looks sexy! Theres no denying that!

4. What keeps you motivated to live the healthy life?
I HELP OTHERS! I have several girls that I help on a daily basis with their nutrition and exercise goals. The emails of praise and thanks are what keep me going! I feel like a fitness superhero when someone tells me “I wasnt going to work out today but that text/picture got me inspired and now I am headed for a good workout!” or “I was going to eat pizza but I saw your picture of dinner last night and made a healthier choice!” I want everyone to feel (and look hehe) as good as me!
Also a super cute workout outfit! Who doesnt want to work a little harder when they know they look hot doing so? I buy Affinity as a reward when I hit my goals! My husband and I share a bank account and Affinity workout clothes are the one thing he will never protest me splurging on! He loves them as much as I do 😉
5. What time of the day do you workout and why
After work on weekdays to unwind from the stress of work and mornings on weekends so I can start my day happy and productive!
6. How do you balance life, work, training and family?
I work out with my husband and puppies! I love doing strength in the gym with my husband. I REFUSE to do cardio in the gym though- my puppies need exercise just the same as I do! So we always do cardio outside with the dogs. I will switch it up with HIIT training some days. I often throw in squats, lunges or step ups using my puppies as weights hehehe! I know I look silly to passerbyers but I dont care! I love my puppies and I love spending time with them! My boston terrier and dachshund will never be overweight! I want them happy and healthy and here with me for a long time!
7. What do you for fun?
Workout with friends! I love being healthy and surrounding myself with healthy friends is such a motivation. Theres nothing like a good Zumba class to get your heartrate up and your smile on! I love going on hikes with my puppies and husband as well. Lately I have been getting into headstands and handstands- so challenging and creative!
8. What do you think is the biggest misconception about women in fitness?
Working out 3hrs in the gym is not going to give you great abs. You can NOT outtrain a bad diet! Eat clean. Eat REAL foods. It makes all the difference in the world. Also do not be afraid of strength training- you will not bulk up!
9. What is your favorite body part to exercise?
Legs and booty! I love my tight denim mini skirt. Its my go to outfit! And I love KNOWING I look great in it!
10. If you had to pick three key exercises – what would they be and why?
Pushups! They work your arms and back! Great for arm flab!
Weighted squats! Works your booty and legs!
Planks! Works your entire body and its awesome to challenge yourself by
holding it longer and longer each time.
11. If you compete, what excites you the most about competing?
I havent yet but I plan to this upcoming winter! It will be so empowering!
12. What is the best advice you can give someone that is considering entering the competition arena?
13. What are the three things you always have in your gym bag?
Sweatybands- I am a face sweater hehehe so Sweatybands are a must for me!
Headphones! Great for when I get all in the zone during strength training! I do not want to be bothered!
My puppies!! hehe jk but seriously! They are the perfect accessory for cardio- they benefit just as much as I do and its unfair of me to take care of my own body and not theirs! We live in an apt without a backyard so it is my top priority!
14. What is your favorite cheat ‘treat’?
Mexican food! I always joke that 8456 enchiladas are equal to the 29lbs I lost! Now I am not a fan of enchiladas (too much tortilla!) but I love a good corn taco, chips and queso! All in moderation of course! One good meal wont make you skinny and one bad meal will not make you fat!
