Top fat burning foods

You might have heard the expression “you can’t out-train a bad diet”. What does that mean, exactly? If you’ve ever burned up hours and hours of cardio every week, only to see the number on the scale stay the same (or even go up!) you might be trying to out-train a bad diet.

Of course, there is a lot more to burning fat than diet, nutrition and exercise. But today we’re going to talk about how to super-charge your diet with some top fat-burning foods so you can finally start to see and feel changes in your body – changes you’ve been wanting to see for weeks, months or even years!

The key to a lean, sleek body is in the diet decisions you make every day. And it’s really not as difficult as you might think. Here are the top secrets of fitness models and physique competitors the world over. Now it’s your turn! Go ahead!

Protein.  Most of us don’t eat enough lean protein. Protein is necessary for building strong, lean muscle which in turn will help your body burn unwanted fat, even at rest. If you weight-train, protein is even more important. Get protein from fish, chicken, turkey, red meat, eggs and egg whites and from dairy such as cottage cheese and Greek yogurt. Protein powders are great, but real food is always best.

Green veggies.  You can’t go wrong with vegetables and leaves, but cruciferous veggies (like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and Brussels sprouts) and green leaves and vegetables are picked of the crop! Pile your plate high with steamed, roasted, baked or raw vegetables at every opportunity to fill you up and pack your diet full of essential nutrients, vitamins and fiber!

Berries.  For a sweet treat, try berries. A great choice if you want to switch your fruit sources from high-sugar fruits, berries are low in sugar, low GI but high in fiber and antioxidants. Try keeping bags of frozen berries in your freezer, perfect for smoothies or de-frosting to eat alone. My favorite is blueberries!

Fish oils.  Don’t avoid all fat if your goal is losing body fat. Your body needs essential fats before it can be encouraged to give up its own fat stores for fuels. Omega 3 oils and fish oils are crucial. Try eating oily fish such as salmon 3-4 times per week, or supplement with a fish oil capsule or omega oil.

Drink your Water.  You have to drink your water if you want to lose fat, keep your skin supple and stay in great health. You know it makes sense!
